Johor Bahru is the capital city of Johor and sits at the southern tip of West Malaysia and adjacent to Singapore. This city has approximately 663,000 people living inside it with an area of 220 km2.     Legoland

    Legoland Malaysia is the first international theme park that opened in Johor Malaysia. It was established on 15 September 2021 and has over 40 rides, shows, and attractions. It has 3 roller coasters and 2 water-based rides in the LEGO theme. Legoland Malaysia is the first Legoland theme park in Asia and the 6th Legoland globally. This theme park was officially opened for business by Sultan Ibrahim Ismail. If you are in Johor Bahru it is recommended to visit this theme park because it wasn’t only built for kids but also for adults. It is also recommended to stay in their resort as well. The rooms in the resort are built in Lego theme making them super unique and interesting. Legoland Malaysia offers new experiences for anyone of any age or background.     Danga Bay

    If you are looking for a new adventure try Danga Bay. This place is the largest recreational area in Johor Bahru with facilities for both active and passive recreation. Danga Bay is a beachfront area that is relatively unexplored by tourists that visit Johor. This place has a lot of activities hidden in it ranging from a scenic sunset view to fresh seafood dishes. Besides having a long and sandy beach Danga Bay also has a theme park that has rides starting from Rm2 only. When the lights are turned on at the night the theme park breathes life into the area. It is an old-school theme park where you pay for the rides you want to get on. Some famous rides are the bumper car, balloon Ferris wheel, and carousel. This theme park begins operation at 3 pm all the way to 12 am. There are also carnival games in which you can participate to win prizes. A day would definitely not be enough to explore Danga Bay. There is so much stuff to see and experience. Make sure you check the weather before going to get the most fun out of the place possible.

    Royal Gardens of Laman Mahkota Istana Bukit Serene:

    The Johor Sultan presented the Royal Gardens of Laman Mahkota Istana Bukit Serene as a gift to the people of Johor as a place where they could relax and enjoy the ambiance outside the Royal residence. The site has a crown arch of 35 meters in height and is a famous tourist attraction in Johor Bahru. The area is well guarded by the Royal Johor Military Forces (JMF), the Sultan’s own private army. Fun fact, Johor Sultan is the only Sultan with a private army. Besides being one of the most famous spots on many people’s Instagram feed, this area also has light shows in the evening. The whole area has been decorated with beautiful majestic fountains and brought to life with many flowers. This landscape combined with lights would drop your jaw. It is advised to come slightly early before 7 pm to beat the crowd. That way you will get an uninterrupted view of the light show.

    Johor Premium Outlet is a 2-floor shopping complex that is owned and managed by Genting Simon group. It has over 150 designer and brand name outlets in it. During the official opening of the mall, it received a thumbs up from Sultan Johor when he visited the place. Johor premium outlet is as good as the Genting premium outlet. The only thing it lacks is probably the chill breeze of mountain top air. You can find famous brands such as Armani, Coach, Gucci, and Lulu lemon in the outlet. Since most of the item are factory-direct there is constantly sales and discounts present up to 65% in Johor Premium Outlet. Shopping there is a definite no-brainer especially if there’s something for everyone at a cheaper price.

    Taman Merdeka

    After being cooped up in a car or your hotel room for a long day, it is recommended to come to this Taman Merdeka which is a recreational activity park. This park has a wide lane for joggers, an open gymnasium, and a children's pool. The people in this park are extremely friendly and by coming here you might just get yourself a new local friend. Moreover, the park has a stunning view of a lake as well that you can see. There is an open-air theatre and a monument dedicated to Malaysia’s independence. This park is the largest park in Johor Bahru Malaysia. It is also a perfect place if you want to have a picnic. During selected days of the month, there would also be dancing fountains with lights. The fountains follow the beat of the song with the light making it seem like a live concert. If you are planning to come here it is advised to come earlier so you can get parking and a nice spot to sit in the park.

    The name of the Lagoon best describes the lagoon itself. The lagoon is so blue it can be compared to the Listerine mouthwash. The view of the lake alone will take your breath away. The lake is said to be that blue because of the iron quarry nearby that caused a chemical reaction thus turning the water bright blue. It takes about 10 minutes to hike up to see the lake. It isn’t a tough trail so it can be seen by many people without strenuous hiking. Do make sure to take plenty of pictures here because this is said to be one of Johor Bahru’s hidden gems. Not to mention the breeze you will get on top of the hill. Pro tip while coming to this Lagoon make sure to wear sunscreen if the sun is still up.

    Visit this location when the sun outside is striking down at noon. Ice skating is a fun activity for both beginners and advanced skaters. Blue Ice Skating Rink is one of the biggest ice skating rinks in Malaysia. It is about 20,000 sqft and it is made from real ice instead of man-made ones. They also provide gear such as ice skating shoes, socks, and gloves. This rink is also situated inside a mall so if you decide to skip ice skating you can also window shop in the mall. Ice skating on real ice feels much more different compared to man-made ones. Plus they also host ice hockey and figure skating events here.
